Sarah's Eggs & The Ashton GEMS

This week we will profile two vendors that are a staple at the Farmers Market.

Dr. Sarah Griffel Thompson (she's a great vet if anyone is looking) grows a variety of species of chickens at her farm in Squirrel. They are definitely free range chickens (they are EVERY WHERE!) and she only feeds the pure grains, not anything that has been processed as chicken feed. The eggs look like they have been dyed as they are a variety of greens, yellows, browns and pinks. Sarah usually has dozen and 18 packs available. Please stop by and visit her at the market. She usually is in between the Ashton GEMS (the produce stand) and Beth Wright (the bread and grains lady). You can also reach her at 351-7524.

The Ashton G.E.M.S. (Good Earth Managers Society) was created in 2009 as a gardening group to beautify the city of Ashton. We have put the planters on Main Street, planted the community center flower beds and the corner coming into Ashton. Our next big project is a flower bed of native plants at Upper Mesa Falls in front of the Big Falls Inn. We work with Dave Woods of Woods Gardens to bring up fresh produce that starts out coming from California early in the summer to coming from Boise & Twin Falls as the summer goes along. We are happy to do this for the market and orders can be placed with Dave and we will pick it up on Fridays and bring it to the market. For more info on that please contact Cicely at 360-8954.
