Sarah's Eggs & The Ashton GEMS

This week we will profile two vendors that are a staple at the Farmers Market.

Dr. Sarah Griffel Thompson (she's a great vet if anyone is looking) grows a variety of species of chickens at her farm in Squirrel. They are definitely free range chickens (they are EVERY WHERE!) and she only feeds the pure grains, not anything that has been processed as chicken feed. The eggs look like they have been dyed as they are a variety of greens, yellows, browns and pinks. Sarah usually has dozen and 18 packs available. Please stop by and visit her at the market. She usually is in between the Ashton GEMS (the produce stand) and Beth Wright (the bread and grains lady). You can also reach her at 351-7524.

The Ashton G.E.M.S. (Good Earth Managers Society) was created in 2009 as a gardening group to beautify the city of Ashton. We have put the planters on Main Street, planted the community center flower beds and the corner coming into Ashton. Our next big project is a flower bed of native plants at Upper Mesa Falls in front of the Big Falls Inn. We work with Dave Woods of Woods Gardens to bring up fresh produce that starts out coming from California early in the summer to coming from Boise & Twin Falls as the summer goes along. We are happy to do this for the market and orders can be placed with Dave and we will pick it up on Fridays and bring it to the market. For more info on that please contact Cicely at 360-8954.

Well, we have had 2 great markets in a row. Last Friday, in Ashton, started out a bit breezy but then it calmed down. We were steady with customers and I hope all the vendors did well. This week is in St. Anthony and I know that there will be some fresh produce along with all the other great vendors. See you there from 4-7 p.m.!

Kat's Kreations/Carolena's Crafts

Kat’s Kreations / Carolena’s Crafts

We are the daughter/mother team of Katrena Orme and Carolena Palmer. While we both work full time jobs, we enjoy sewing and crafting when we are not working! We participate in the Henry’s Fork Farmers Markets during the summer and various craft fairs thru the holiday season. Katrena makes ragged tote bags, different styles of purse type bags, and beaded jewelry. A new item she is featuring this year is her interchangeable necklace charms. Each charm features a lobster claw clasp that allows you to change the charm on the chain to match the color of what you are wearing.

Carolena has been sewing and quilting for many years. She brings many beautifully hand crafted items to the market. She features her hand embroidered pillows with catchy sayings, her crocheted dish cloths, baby receiving blanket sets, and baby quilts. A new item she is featuring this year are her men’s aprons that are made to look like a suit or tuxedo.

We will be participating in 1 market at each location each month. The dates and locations we will be at are:

June 17th in Ashton

June 24th in St. Anthony

July 15th in Ashton

July 22nd in St. Anthony

August 12th in St. Anthony

August 19th in Ashton

September 2nd in Ashton

September 9th in St. Anthony

We look forward to seeing you at Market!!!
